What fencing involves

The cheapest fence to build is usually a wood privacy fence, but 'cheapest to build' and 'cheapest to own' are two very different things. Material choice, post depth, concrete footings, and how well the installer accounts for freeze-thaw ground movement all determine whether your fence is standing straight in five years or leaning into your neighbor's yard. H&H Creations installs wood, vinyl, and chain link fencing with manufacturer warranty coverage and a craftsmanship warranty on our work. If you want a straight answer on what a new fence will cost for your property, call us at (509) 514-7171 for a free estimate.

Fencing cost varies more than most homeowners expect. A basic wood privacy fence runs differently than a vinyl panel system or a chain link perimeter on a larger lot. What drives the number up: total linear footage, slope on your property line, gate hardware, post depth requirements (rocky soil costs more to dig), and material grade. We don't quote over the internet because two jobs with the same footage can have completely different scope. Every job is different, contact H&H Creations for an accurate estimate. Financing is available if the project scope needs it.

Materials

Wood, Vinyl, and Chain Link: Choosing the Right Fence Right Fence

The material that makes sense for your yard depends on what you're trying to accomplish, not what's cheapest per foot.

H&H Creations works with all three major residential fence materials. Here's what each one actually does well.

01

Wood Fencing

Cedar and pressure-treated pine are the most common choices in the Inland Northwest. Wood gives you a classic look, takes stain or paint, and can be built to any height your HOA allows. It needs maintenance every few years, but a properly set wood fence with concrete-poured posts lasts 15 to 20 years without drama.

02

Vinyl Fencing

Vinyl is the low-maintenance answer. It doesn't rot, doesn't need painting, and holds color well through hot summers and cold winters. The upfront cost is higher than wood, but you're not re-staining it every three years. For homeowners who want a clean look without ongoing work, vinyl makes a lot of sense.

03

Chain Link Fencing

Chain link is still the right call for large lot perimeters, dog runs, and utility areas where visibility matters and budget is a real factor. It's durable, low maintenance, and faster to install across longer runs. We can add privacy slats or vinyl coating if you want something more finished-looking.

Our Process

How H&H Creations Installs a Fence

From property line to final post, here is how we work.

  1. 01

    Site Assessment and Free Estimate

We walk the property line with you, confirm measurements, identify grade changes or access issues, and tell you exactly what the job involves before any money changes hands. No vague bids.

  2. 02

    Post Setting and Foundation Work

Posts go in the ground the right depth for your soil and climate conditions. Every post gets concrete-set footings. This is where most budget fence installs cut corners, and it's why those fences lean within three years.

  3. 03

    Panel Installation, Gates, and Cleanup

Panels go up level and square. Gates get quality hardware and proper swing clearance. When we're done, the job site is clean and you get documentation of your manufacturer and craftsmanship warranties.

What the Warranty Actually Covers

Finished cedar privacy fence installed along a residential property line, with the last panel just hung.
H&H Creations backs every fence installation with two separate protections, and it's worth knowing the difference between them. The manufacturer warranty covers defects in the materials themselves: panels, posts, hardware. If a vinyl panel delaminates or chain link comes with a coating failure, that's the manufacturer's call. The craftsmanship warranty covers our work. If a post we set shifts because of how we installed it, or a gate we hung stops latching correctly, that's on us to fix. Both warranties travel with the job. We're a family-owned operation, bonded and fully insured, and our guarantee is simple: 100% satisfied, no corners cut. If something isn't right, we come back and make it right. That's not marketing language. That's the job.

Fence Projects Across the Area We Serve

H&H Creations installs fencing for homeowners and property owners throughout the region. We serve communities including Liberty Lake, Cheney, Veradale, Medical Lake, Colbert, Nine Mile Falls, Rockford, Spangle, and Fairchild Air Force Base area properties. If you're working on a project beyond the fence line, we also handle decking, roofing, and full home remodeling under the same contractor relationship.

FAQ

Fencing Questions We Hear Most

What is the cheapest type of fence to build?
Per linear foot, basic chain link is typically the lowest material and labor cost. Among solid-panel options, pressure-treated pine is cheaper upfront than cedar or vinyl. But 'cheapest to build' doesn't account for maintenance costs over time. A wood fence that isn't properly sealed and restained every few years will start failing in 7 to 10 years. Vinyl costs more up front and requires almost no ongoing maintenance.
How much does fencing usually cost?
Residential fencing can range from a few hundred dollars for a short chain link run to several thousand dollars for a full vinyl privacy fence with multiple gates on a larger property. The variables that move the number most are total footage, material choice, property slope, soil conditions, and gate count. We don't post price grids because two jobs with the same footage are rarely the same job. Call us at (509) 514-7171 and we'll give you a real number after seeing the property.
How deep should fence posts be set in this climate?
The standard rule is one-third of the total post length in the ground, with a general minimum of 24 inches. In areas with cold winters and significant freeze-thaw cycles, going deeper, often 30 to 36 inches, reduces heaving. Concrete footings are non-negotiable on any fence that needs to stay straight for more than a few years. Skipping concrete is the single most common reason fences fail early.
Does wood fencing hold up in cold, wet winters?
It does, if it's installed right and maintained. Pressure-treated wood is rated for ground contact and resists rot for years. Cedar has natural oils that slow moisture absorption. The failure points are typically the post bases and any untreated cut ends. We treat cut ends on every wood post and make sure drainage isn't pooling at the base. Staining or sealing the fence within the first year after install makes a measurable difference in longevity.
What should I check before a fence installer starts work on my property?
Know where your property line actually is, not where you think it is. A survey stake or a recorded plat are more reliable than assumptions. Fences built over property lines create real problems down the road. Also call 811 before any digging starts to mark buried utilities. H&H Creations coordinates this as part of our standard process. If you have HOA rules about fence height, style, or material, have those in writing before we begin.
